My youngest grandson LOVES to help!

I am an avid and passionate gardener! I live in a rural area in Central Texas and have a large organic garden as well as a small orchard. Last year my husband built a wonderful Greenhouse for me.

It is hot here in Texas and sometimes there is drought and other challenges to successful gardening. Nevertheless, I love growing tasty and healthful food for my family and to share with others. We also have a very nice, long growing season, in fact, we can actually grow two gardens a year if desired. (I always have good intentions of doing that but by the time the full heat of summer is upon us....well, that idea usually goes by the wayside!

I will try and share some of my successes and failures with you here. I also welcome your comments and advice! As time goes by I will put up some photos of my various gardening efforts! You will also find here links to a few of the seed and plant catalogs that I use in the effort to provide all of you with high quality resources at affordable prices!

Gosh! John and I worked really hard this past week-end and got the entire garden planted! We decided to leave it partially covered up to solarize the sides this summer and just garden in the middle. Next year we will garden on the sides and solarize the middle. Last year my garden was so full of weeds I just gave up and bought the commercial heavy gauge ground cover...well worth its weight in gold!!! I will post more pictures of my garden as the season progresses!
